AlphaMind reads the market with its own models and explains what it sees. These calculators are the arithmetic around that. This page runs in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.

The maths

Pivot =  (high + low + close) / 3
R1    =  2 x pivot - low
S1    =  2 x pivot - high
R2    =  pivot + (high - low)
S2    =  pivot - (high - low)

That is the classic method. Fibonacci spaces the levels at 38.2%, 61.8% and 100% of the range instead, and Camarilla pulls them in tight around the close for range days.

Worked example

A session that ran 1.0900 high, 1.0820 low and closed at 1.0870 gives a pivot at 1.0863, first resistance at 1.0907 and first support at 1.0827.

Which prices should I put in?

The previous completed session. Daily pivots take yesterday's high, low and close. Weekly pivots take last week's, and they hold for the week.

Which method should I use?

Classic is the default and the one most desks have on the chart. Camarilla sits closer to the close and suits a range. Fibonacci falls between the two.

Do pivot points work?

They are watched, which is most of why they matter. A level a lot of people are looking at attracts orders. Nothing in the arithmetic predicts anything by itself.
